Being a mom of a little girl has lots of benefits, and one of them is the opportunity to watch Disney movies together. One of my recent favorites was the Tinkerbell movie. If you haven’t seen the movie, here is a summary. Tinkerbell is born and brought to Pixie Hollow. As is customary in the fairy world, she goes through a process to find out what her “talent” is. Each fairy has their own talent, which corresponds to what their jobs are in the fairy world. There are weather fairies, water fairies, animal fairies etc. Each of these talents are special and important to keep the seasons flowing and for nature to run its course. Tinkerbell is given the talent of a Tinker Fairy, which means she is essentially an engineer! Her job is to tinker and invent things that are helpful to the other fairies. Of course this talent is not as glamorous as the other talents and doesn’t lead her to the adventure she is hoping for, so she sets out to try to become good at another talent. The movie accounts the hilarious act of her unsuccessfully trying out various talents only to finally realize that if she uses her strength – as a tinker can she significantly impact the lives of the fairies in Pixie Hollow.
I absolutely loved the message in this movie – we are all created for something special and unique. Once we discover our talents and passions, and find a way to utilize them daily, that is when we will have the greatest impact on this world. What a beautiful message to pass along to all women, including my daughter!
